About the Speaker:

Jason Benson serves as the Executive Director for the Metro Flood Diversion Authority. He previously served as the Cass County Engineer from June 2011 to January 2025 and worked as a construction and design engineer for Cass County from 2000 to 2011. His Executive Director duties include the leadership and management for the $3.2 billion Fargo-Moorhead Diversion Project. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in ND and holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from North Dakota State University, Master’s in Management from the University of Mary, and a Master’s in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. He has 36 years of military service with the active-duty Army and the Minnesota Army National Guard. He is currently a brigadier general and serves as the Assistant Division Commander for the 34th Infantry Division.
