In the series “meet a member,” we will be highlighting members of the Minnesota Society of Professional Engineers. This week, meet Darin Mielke, Deputy County Engineer of Carver County, a member of MnSPE’s Board of Directors and Chair of the Legislative Advocacy Committee.

Darin is responsible for the overall leadership of the Department of Program Delivery for Carver County Public Works, which includes county surveying, engineering, construction and transportation operations functional groups. He provides recommendations to the Division Director and the county board on short and long-term planning and goals for the Carver County transportation system.

Darin received a scholarship from MnSPE while he was in college. Once he started his career, he wanted to give back as a member of MnSPE for the next generation of professional engineers.

When asked what does having a Professional License means to him, he answered:

“I feel that my license is a symbol of pride and a measure of my continuous improvement, hard work, and dedication towards highly respected achievement. I believe there is a higher responsibility and ethical calling that go with the ability to add the PE behind my name.”
