With nearly 200 MnSPE member-volunteers, and over 2000 mathletes, the Minnesota MATHCOUNTS 2023 season is well underway. Months of work by Chapter Coordinators (MnSPE members), teacher-coaches, and sixth, seventh and eighth graders will be rewarded when the MATHCOUNTS State Competition begins March 10.

The state’s top mathletes will gather in Plymouth for the two-day event. MnSPE members will be there, too. They’ll manage the four separate segments of the competition, introduce students to an engineering activity and much, much more.

Designing catapults – and testing them for distance and accuracy – is one popular engineering activity. MnSPE and its members have made Minnesota MATHCOUNTS happen for more than 80,000 mathletes in the past 40 years.
