Emotional Intelligence at Work: Don’t check your emotions at the door!

Work and emotions DO go together! In fact, research shows emotional intelligence is the most accurate predictor of performance and accounts for over 50% of job success. This interactive session will introduce the concept of emotional intelligence and provide deeper insights you can use to identify and express your emotions in constructive ways as you build your career.

Presenter: Julie Thiel
Julie Thiel is Vice President of Human Resources at WSB, a design and consulting firm that specializes in engineering, community planning, environmental and construction services. Julie leads recruiting, engagement, and talent development for the firm. She has more than 25 years of multi-industry experience in human resources leadership roles with companies including Schwan’s Company, Target Corporation, McGladrey and Analysts International. In 2022, Julie launched a side career coaching business, Teal Bloom LLC, to help high-performing women conquer their career and feel calm and confident at work.

Julie is known for her ability to help organizations amplify their current talent and develop the next generation of leaders. She brings her enthusiasm and personal stories to the podium and is a frequent speaker on the topics of authentic leadership, emotional intelligence and change management. Julie received her bachelor’s degree in psychology and master’s degree in human resources from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. In 2020, She was recognized as one of the Top Women in Business by Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal.
